The Florida International University (FIU) Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Program (Cyber-CAP) is an apprenticeship program that addresses the needs of employers in IT and IT-related industries (e.g. medical, healthcare, financial, construction, transportation, and hospitality).

The apprenticeship program is a one-year program that involves full-time IT security On-the-Job-Training (OJT) with an employer and cybersecurity Related Technical Instruction (RTI) from FIU. The program combines technical skills, industry credentials, and on-the-job training to prepare learners to work in cybersecurity. FIU partners with employers to fill cybersecurity vacancies through reskilling and upskilling pathways.

FIU recognizes the critical importance of research universities partnering with industry in more substantive ways – developing apprenticeships is one such model.Elizabeth Bejar, Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs and co-Principal Investigator
